  • Films by Photographers

    05/04/26 6:30pm

This special programme brings together four silent films from the 1920s, created by pioneering photographers who turned their cameras towards motion. Featuring surrealist and experimental documentary works by Man Ray, Joris Ivens, and Ralph Steiner, Films by Photographers captures the rhythm of industry, everyday movement, and the strange beauty of light and the elements. Presented with new electronic scores by Glasgow-based audiovisual duo The Spring Vexation, these four captivating shorts reveal how photographic perspectives shaped some of the most inventive and atmospheric moving images of early cinema. No Borders String Trio

Who we are…

No Borders Trio is a dynamic string trio committed to breaking down barriers through live music centred around the performance of classical music in diverse community settings, such as hospitals, care homes, schools and arts venues across Scotland. The trio consists of Frances Patterson (Violin), Suzanne Godet (Viola) and Joanna Stark (Cello), all recent graduates of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland with previous experience of volunteering with non-for-profit organisations- such as the Nevis Ensemble, and in Dementia Day Care centres. The group formed in early 2023 through their shared passion for chamber music and drive to build stronger links between music and communities. They are currently artists with Live Music Now Scotland and are recipients of the Glasgow UNESCO City of Music Small Awards Scheme. More recently, the group toured the Seil Islands with support from Netherlorn Music Scheme, and were selected to premiere the 2024 Kimie Commission Prize ‘Dancing in Faerie’ by Connor Bristow.
